District Governor’s Message

Welcome to Rotary Central Florida.

I am Barry Gainer and it is my distinct honor to serve as your District Governor for 2021-2022.

Rotary International is a group of people serving others worldwide.  We are a group of 1.2 million people in 206 countries.  Our district membership is approximately 1,650 in 47 clubs from Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole and Sumter counties.

Collectively, we raise over  $1,000,000 to support local and global communities and their citizens.

Our RI President, Shekhar Mehta, has chosen our theme this year as “Serving Others To Change Lives”, a reflection of the core goals of Rotary International as well as in our own communities.

Specifically, this year we will have a District-wide service project to help combat the numerous citizens in our own District by aiming to collect and distribute 1 million meals to food banks, charities and other charitable organizations in our own backyard.  We will encourage clubs to do so on their own as well as to form multi-club initiatives to attain this goal.

I will also be encouraging multi-club projects for their local communities which will provide opportunities to make larger impacts than any one club can do on it own.

Additionally, we will continue to strongly support our incredible youth programs through RYLA, Interact, Rotary Youth Exchange, and our newest program, Youth and Peace in Action (YPA).  YPA will be a part of each of our other youth programs as we expect synergistic effects.

We will be continuing to encourage introducing new people into our clubs as a means of membership growth but even more so, to have others enjoy the rewards of serving others.  Shekhar Mehta is encouraging us to simply, Each One, Bring One, urging us to ask at least one new friend or associate to the inner rewards of Rotary by becoming a Rotarian.

I want everyone to know that our District Leadership is in unison in saying that we are here to serve you and our goal is to be catalysts and facilitators so please let us know how we may serve you.

I look forward to meeting each of you during my club visits and other activities.

Be proud to be a Rotarian!

Rotary is a Leadership Development Organization

Through the opportunity of membership, Rotary becomes a powerful vehicle for nurturing Rotarians’ leadership aptitudes in a variety of Rotary Club roles. This helps members apply their professional skills, knowledge and experience for the benefit of our local community.

Rotary by the Numbers

Rotary has evolved much since it was founded by Paul Harris in 1905. Today, Rotary is a diverse and vibrant organization spread over the globe, with members representing every nationality, ethnicity, culture, and language. Most importantly, our growth and evolution has been shaped by staying in touch with our community’s needs—and by finding viable solutions with our creativity and synergy.

Did you ever want to be a part of Rotary?

Rotary needs People of Action just like YOU! Membership in a Rotary Club can help you channel your desire to volunteer in an established service organization with worldwide reach. While Rotarians normally invite friends, colleagues and families to join, we also want to welcome those who have a desire to do Service Above Self.

Words from Proud Rotarians

“Rotary has given me an opportunity to give back to my local community and to others in need around the world. Every week, I interact with my Rotary Club as well as with our Rotary District, making Fellowship a vehicle for personal and professional growth through human connections.”
