Rotary D6980 - 2021 District Picnic Flyer

Save the Date: District Picnic on June 26, 2021

Rotary District 6980 is inviting all Rotarians and their families to the 2021 District Picnic & Family Fun Day at the Eagle Heart Ranch near the Lake Nona area. Thanks to the kindness of Rotarians Tony and Sonya LaBosco, we will have a chance to get together outdoors to celebrate getting through 2020-2021 and gaining a new outlook on what Rotarian Fellowship means to all of us.

Come give District Governor Mike Vernon a happy send off as the 2020-2021 Rotary year ends and also welcome Barry Gainer as he gets sworn in as our new District Governor for 2021-2022!

Forget about Zoom meetings because the District Picnic is where the fun is! You must R.S.V.P. by logging into DACdb to register yourself and your family to help us get a headcount on attendees. Read the latest information on the picnic by clicking on the buttons below to see the Event Details or to log into DACdb to register online. See you on June 26th from 12 noon to 4 pm!

District Governor’s Message

Welcome to Rotary Central Florida.

I am Mike Vernon, and I am honored and pleased to serve as the Rotary District Governor for 2020 – 2021.

Rotary is a membership organization of volunteers focused on leadership and service in local communities and internationally.

There are over 1.2 million Rotarians located in countries throughout the world. In Central Florida, we have nearly 1,900 members in our 48 clubs in the five counties of Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole, and Sumter.

Annually, we provided over 1 million dollars in support of our local and international communities. Some of our recent projects include the following:

• Scholarships, educational programs and supplies for students
• Youth programs
• Support of local food banks
• Help for who are impoverished
• Environmental clean-up programs
• Disaster relief programs in the Bahamas, Georgia, the Carolinas, and locally in Florida
• Clean water programs in Haiti
• Cleft lip and palate programs in Mexico, Peru, and Bolivia
• School construction in Ethiopia
• Grand Bahama fishermen’s boat upgrades
• Fighting against the COVID-19 pandemic
• Eradicating Polio throughout the world

The Rotary International theme this year is Rotary Opens Opportunities and our District theme is Friendship.

Rotary Central Florida is an active, vibrant, and exciting place to be!

We hope you will join us and take advantage of all of the opportunities that Rotary provides and become a treasured part of our family of friends.

See you at a meeting soon!

Rotary is a Leadership Development Organization

Through the opportunity of membership, Rotary becomes a powerful vehicle for nurturing Rotarians’ leadership aptitudes in a variety of Rotary Club roles. This helps members apply their professional skills, knowledge and experience for the benefit of our local community.

Rotary by the Numbers

Rotary has evolved much since it was founded by Paul Harris in 1905. Today, Rotary is a diverse and vibrant organization spread over the globe, with members representing every nationality, ethnicity, culture, and language. Most importantly, our growth and evolution has been shaped by staying in touch with our community’s needs—and by finding viable solutions with our creativity and synergy.

Did you ever want to be a part of Rotary?

Rotary needs People of Action just like YOU! Membership in a Rotary Club can help you channel your desire to volunteer in an established service organization with worldwide reach. While Rotarians normally invite friends, colleagues and families to join, we also want to welcome those who have a desire to do Service Above Self.

Words from Proud Rotarians

“Rotary has given me an opportunity to give back to my local community and to others in need around the world. Every week, I interact with my Rotary Club as well as with our Rotary District, making Fellowship a vehicle for personal and professional growth through human connections.”
