District Governor’s Message

Dear Rotarians (and future Rotarians),

Welcome to Rotary in Central Florida, home to nearly 1,700 Rotarians who belong to one of the 45 Rotary Clubs across Orange, Seminole, Osceola, Lake, and Sumter counties. Our district is vibrant, diverse, and engaged–with an amazing group of volunteers of all ages and backgrounds who live by our motto Service Above Self, using their knowledge, experience, and skills to do good in Central Florida and around the world.

It is a great honor to serve as District Governor in 2022-2023 and lead Central Florida’s District 6980 through volunteering and active involvement in our community. I am excited to be a part of this historic year when we welcome Jennifer Jones as the first woman President of Rotary International, who will lead more than 1.4 million members of Rotary with the exciting theme of Imagine Rotary.

My wife, Veronica, and I are committed Rotarians who believe in being active participants in doing good in the world—and we know Rotary is at the forefront of this global “dogoodery” movement to find solutions to common and uncommon issues. From supporting Ukrainian refugees fleeing their country as a result of an unprovoked war to providing disaster relief after a natural disaster through ShelterBox—and many more Rotary projects—we want to show the world what Rotarians do every day to make the world a better place.

As a global membership organization, Rotary is represented by people from every corner of the world, as well as from every religion, ethnicity, language, age group, physical ability, sexual orientation, and neurodiversity. I personally want to foster an environment of acceptance and understanding where we can learn from each other. And yes, droids are allowed here too.

If you are a Rotarian, I would like for you to invite at least ONE friend, family member, workmate, or client to a Rotary meeting this year (or maybe one of each). Show them why you look forward to your weekly Rotary Club meeting, volunteering events, and social outings with others who see value in belonging to the most active service organization in the world.

Last, if you are not yet a Rotarian, please click here to request an invite and I will facilitate an invitation to a Rotary Club near your home or place of work, where you can begin your own journey of Service Above Self.

Act on your desire to become part of something bigger than yourself. Join Rotary and augment the good you can do around the world through a network of professionals, community leaders, and business owners who actively imagine a better future for our local and global community.

Onwards and upwards!

Rotary is a Leadership Development Organization

Through the opportunity of membership, Rotary becomes a powerful vehicle for nurturing Rotarians’ leadership aptitudes in a variety of Rotary Club roles. This helps members apply their professional skills, knowledge and experience for the benefit of our local community.

Rotary by the Numbers

Rotary has evolved much since it was founded by Paul Harris in 1905. Today, Rotary is a diverse and vibrant organization spread over the globe, with members representing every nationality, ethnicity, culture, and language. Most importantly, our growth and evolution has been shaped by staying in touch with our community’s needs—and by finding viable solutions with our creativity and synergy.

Words from Proud Rotarians

“Rotary has given me an opportunity to give back to my local community and to others in need around the world. Every week, I interact with my Rotary Club as well as with our Rotary District, making Fellowship a vehicle for personal and professional growth through human connections.”
